Aims:

To promote the research of CASS on crucial social issues and advance the research advantages of CASS in social policy; to strengthen the theoretical research and academic exchanges in the field of social policy; to set up the discipline of social policy with Chinese characteristics; and to combine the theory with practical work in the field of social policy and to meet the urgent needs of a coordinated socio-economic development. 

Fields of Activities:

1.Theoretical research aims to set up the discipline of social policy with Chinese characteristics;

2. Conduct social investigations in grassroots to find and study the issues existed in the field of social policy (especially those related to public welfare, social security, public health, and unification of urban and rural area) and make applicable policy suggestions to advance social policy of China;

3. To held academic meetings and training and publish research outcome to disseminate the theory of social policy and extend its methods, to exchange the experiences of social policy in practice, and to improve the implementation of social policy.

4. Engage in international exchanges through academic meetings and visits to promote international cooperation.

5. Undertake the research work assigned by the State Fund and other related departments of central or local government and provide theory and information for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of social policy in China.

6. Spread the knowledge of social policy and mobilize the public to participate in the process of policy-making and implementing and provide consultation on social policy and other services.
